History

The North American Interfraternal Foundation was founded in 1948 as an organization in American where men and women work together for a certain common purpose; that is, for "the welfare of the American College Fraternity System."

Members of men's and women's Greek groups are represented on more than 2,000 college and university campuses in the United States and Canada. Total sorority and fraternity membership exceeds 9 million initiated members worldwide.

Today, the NIF's mission is clear:

"The purpose of the North American Interfraternal Foundation shall be to promote and support leadership, educational, and research initiatives that advance the North American college fraternal experience.
